The main reason I purchased this item was because I frequently wind up with a stack of CD's and DVD's that I am too lazy to put back in their binders or case after use. Unfortunately a stack of optical media tends to result in discs that are scratched, dirty, and easy to misplace. Even storing discs on an old spindle can be risky as I discovered after dropping one while moving into a new apartment.
After purchasing this item my desk doesn't have a single loose disc, I casually put them in the box which affords much more protection. Nearly four months later, not one disc has been lost or damaged and it looks nice having this item next to the similarly styled binder sets. My only complaint about this particular item is that the snaps don't line up perfectly with the corners unless you keep the lid on. After some consideration, this gives a warm steampunk/organic feel amid a relatively sterile computing environment.
