Customer Review: Nice Case for the Money

This is a nice basic case for the money. Considering what they want in local retail stores for a 17-inch case (when you can even find one!), and that the price includes SuperSaver Shipping, this deal would be hard to beat for a basic 17-inch laptop case.
We wanted a basic case to transport out 17-inch laptop occasionally. and this fit the bill. It is a "pocket" type of insertion with zipper closing, just fine for our needs. There is ample room for our power cords and even a thin file folder or two if needed. Having seen the neophrene-type sleeves and cases, I was happy to be manufactured with a nylon-microfiber-type of material. It does have some pockets inside the storage areas for pens, cell phone, etc., which some may find useful ~ however which we will probably never use.
I did not give it five stars for the following reasons, which are mainly design issues I feel could have been easily remedied with the case still being offered at the same reasonable price:
**The flap is secured with an "N" shaped metal tab, which fits into a nylon strap a couple of inches long. This is a pain in the behind to use, you have to practically look under there to see what you are doing. Because of the length of the nylon strap it hooks onto, it seems it was designed this way for "expansion" ~ however jamming stuff in this particular case would be hard to do and would weaken the remaining seams and construction (it is not big enough, for instance, to put a wireless router in there with it). If you need to carry more than just the basic 17-inch laptop and cords and maybe a few thin files, spend the money and buy a bigger case. One word of suggestion here: VELCRO!!!!!!!!
**The shoulder strap hooks on with thick plastic "hooks" and there is also a thin metal part that always puts me in the mind of big safety pins ~ as is like the strap broke and someone used huge safety pins for a fast fix (yes, it looks that bad, in my opinion). It may be secure, however it looks really cheesy. I have straps from other cases that I will use if need be, but it would seem these could have been designed and manufactured a little differently to make it at least look a little better. I can also see why other reviewers would worry about the durability of these contraptions. We do not use a case that much, other than for basic storage and occasional transport, for this particular laptop. If I was going to be on the go with it more often or regularly, I would definitely pay the extra money and get a different model.
The "teal" inside is a dark blue-ish color, as we are using it for the purposes stated above, that did not bother us. For the reviewer who said it was not something his "clients" would not look favorably on ~ well, where is the basic self-respect? Go
But if you've been searching for a basic case for a 17-inch laptop, are not going to be running through airports with it on a regular basis, and don't expect to place a ton of other materials in there with it, then this is the case for you. It's not elegant and expensive looking, but then again, it is not completely cheesy looking either (extreior view and expect for the issues I discussed above). If you want more than that, then spend the extra money and get it!
